How Halver works

Halver is a 100% free way to share good things with your neighbours — food, plants, household items and more. No prices, no bidding. Here's everything you need for your first share.

The basics, in 3 steps

Whether you're giving something away or picking something up, it's the same simple flow.

For hosts · giving

Post in about 60 seconds

Tap + Post, add a photo, give it a title, pick a category, set your pickup radius and a time window. That's it — no pricing, no haggling. It's free by design.

For receivers · getting

Request & join a fair queue

Browse nearby items and tap Request on anything you'd like. Reservations are granted in the exact order they arrive — first come, first served. If you're not first, you join the queue and move up automatically if someone ahead cancels.

Safe pickup

Meet up & confirm with a code

Use the in-app chat to agree a pickup time and place (or leave it with a neighbour). At handover, confirm the exchange with a QR scan or 6-digit code so both sides know it's genuine.

Getting started

Your first 5 minutes

Create your account with your name and email, and add a profile photo — a real photo builds trust.
Set your area so we can show items near you. Halver only uses your location while the app is open.
Turn on notifications so you hear the moment someone requests your item or your pickup is confirmed.
Browse the feed to see what neighbours are sharing right now.

Choosing a pickup time

When you request an item, you'll pick how the handover happens:

Urgent — collect as soon as possible; good for fresh food that won't keep.
Anytime — you choose a date (up to the day before it expires) and a time that suits you both.
Scheduled — pick from the host's available windows, then confirm a slot together in chat.

Both people see the agreed time, and you'll each get a reminder before pickup.

Coins & credits (it's still free)

Coins simply keep sharing fair and active — they're never money and can't be bought.

Care Coins You spend a small Care Coin hold to request an item. It's returned when the exchange completes, so genuine requests stay flowing and no-shows are discouraged.

Halver Coins You earn Halver Coins for successfully sharing items. They recognise your generosity and can be converted to Care Coins to keep receiving.

Everyone gets a starting balance, plus a free top-up each month — so you can always take part.

Reputation & kindness points

Every successful share earns points and raises your level. Cancelling or not showing up carries a small penalty to keep things fair for everyone.

Staying safe

Meet in a public, well-lit place when you can, and keep coordination inside the in-app chat.
Every handover is confirmed with a QR or 6-digit code — never share your code before you meet.
Listings are reviewed (including an automated image check) before they go live.
See something wrong? Use Report on any item or member. Our team reviews every report.

Quick answers

Does anything cost money? Never. Halver is a giving network, not a marketplace.
What can I share? Food, produce, home-cooked meals, plants, furniture, clothes, books, electronics and everyday goods.
What if the first person cancels? The reservation automatically moves to the next person in the queue.
How do I delete my account? Profile → Manage account → Delete account. See here.
